Why Qalixa uses UNSPSC and eODT

Both UNSPSC and eODT are open standards. UNSPSC (United Nations Standard Products and Services Code) is a comprehensive hierarchical classification of products and services designed for e-commerce and e-procurement systems. UNSPSC is used by both private companies and the public sector in countries around the world. It is a global, non-proprietary system that is freely available on the internet. UNSPSC is independently managed and frequently updated with contributions made by industry specialists around the world.

The eODT (ECCMA Open Technical Dictionary) is a dictionary of product attributes developed by the ECCMA, Electronic Commerce Code Management Association.

Qlaixa put together eODT attributes to the UNSPSC’s product category for two purposes:

1. Adding attribute provides sellers the opportunity to compete with other products by many other characteristics beyond just price.

2. While the buyers on the fastest way find a specific product that more exact meets certain characteristics in an ocean of other products.
